Mount Baker
When I was in Abbotsford a couple of months ago I took this shot of Mount Baker as the sun was setting. What a beautiful and scary mountain.
Mill Creek First Falls
This is a shot of the water entering the pool below the first falls at Mill Creek in Ellison. If you live in the Kelowna area and have never been to this park in Ellison it is worth the trip. It is a pretty easy walk to the first falls and then you can continue on to more falls, a reservoir, and a pretty deep canyon where you need to be more careful.
Lamppost – City Park
Truth be told, I do not like winter as much as I used to. I am starting to understand why so many retired people flee Canada for sunnier climates during the winter. However it is a great time of year to take photos with the low sun, long shadows and strong contrast.
Winter Day – Two Horses Seek Protection
I am so happy I stopped. We were on our way to Kamloops and it started snowing. We drove past these two horses seeking some shelter beside this old barn and I asked my wife if we should stop and she said “of course, if we don’t you’ll be sorry”.
I think the color of the horses complements the colors in the barn wood perfectly.
Mountain Goat Mother and Kid
This shot was taken in British Columbia’s Cathedral Provincial Park in July. These goats were just two of herd of about ten. They were eating the snow to get water.
I like the lighting of this shot. The sun was streaming through a hole in the clouds which was shining only onto the patch of snow resulting in the high contrast between the rocky background and the snow.
First Time for Everything
Finally I am getting this website up and running after a month of decision making. Who knew that there were so many website platforms and content management systems out there. I ended up going with Wordpress because of it’s nice photo gallery applications and it’s easy to use back end.
Since this website is to focus primarily on photography I guess I need to post a photo. I will try and add all new photos to blog posts so that you can keep up to date on what is on the site.
This photo I took a couple of winters ago at a nearby orchard. It seemed so strange for there still to be fruit on the trees while it was snowing.
